Jérôme Rothen Praises PSG’s New Star Kvaratskhelia: A ‘Phenomenal Player’
Paris, February 2025
In a bold move this winter, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured the services of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from SSC Naples, a long-time target for the club. The Georgian winger, who inked his contract on January 17, wasted no time making an impact in the French capital.
Immediate impact on the field
Kvaratskhelia quickly showed his worth by providing an assist to Ousmane Dembélé in a 1-1 draw against Reims on January 25 in Ligue 1. However, it was during PSG’s emphatic 4-1 triumph over Monaco that the 23-year-old truly captured the attention of fans and pundits alike. Former PSG midfielder Jérôme Rothen praised the team’s offensive cohesion and technical precision, particularly highlighting Kvaratskhelia’s performance, which included scoring the second goal in the match.
Players returning to form
“What’s striking is their ability to minimize mistakes, something they struggled with not so long ago. The players are back on track. The attack is incredible, and there’s minimal waste in midfield,” remarked Rothen, now an RMC consultant. “Barcola’s ball-handling and runs are impressive. Kvara is a phenomenal player.”
Upcoming challenges
Looking ahead, PSG is set to face Brest at the Roudourou for the first leg of their Champions League playoff match this Tuesday. Kvaratskhelia is expected to play a crucial role in the encounter, barring any unexpected developments.
