Jean-Claude Blanc Joins ECA Executive Committee Amid Ugarte Transfer

Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) General Director, Jean-Claude Blanc, has officially joined the Executive Committee of the European Clubs Association (ECA) as of Wednesday. This organization is led by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, with whom Blanc maintains a strong rapport. Currently with Manchester United, Blanc played a pivotal role in the recent transfer of Manuel Ugarte.

Blanc’s Key Role in Ugarte’s Transfer

Just a year after acquiring Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon, PSG has opted to part ways with the 23-year-old Uruguayan international, who has made 23 appearances for his national team. Ugarte is set to join Manchester United in a transfer deal valued at €50 million, plus an additional €10 million in bonuses.

New Position within the ECA

Jean-Claude Blanc, who previously held the position of General Director at PSG from 2011 to 2022, continues to foster a positive relationship with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. As of this Wednesday, the 61-year-old French executive has assumed a new role on the Executive Committee of the ECA, further solidifying his influence in European football.
