Monaco Stuns PSG with 2-1 Victory at Parc des Princes in Ligue 1 Clash

**Paris, France – September 2026** – In a dramatic turn of events during the third round of Ligue 1, **Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)** faced a surprising defeat against **AS Monaco** at the Parc des Princes, with a final score of 2-1.

PSG’s early advantage

Despite the defeat, the evening started on a promising note for PSG. Under the guidance of **Luis Enrique**, the team took the lead when **Marquinhos** scored the opening goal. The Brazilian defender found the net after a well-coordinated play involving **Khvicha Kvaratskhelia** (1-0, 31st minute). This goal instilled confidence in the team, but the momentum was short-lived.

Monaco’s comeback strategy

**AS Monaco**, initially trailing and outplayed, adjusted their strategy after halftime. Adopting a more aggressive approach, **Monaco equalized** before the hour mark. **Nazinho** headed in the leveling goal, courtesy of an assist from **Teze** (1-1, 58th minute), reigniting the contest.

The equalizer shifted the dynamics, with PSG’s initial dominance dwindling. **Monaco capitalized** on these opportunities, with **Idumbo** scoring a stunning goal to secure the lead (2-1, 72nd minute). Despite PSG’s late attempts to salvage the match, including a remarkable effort from **Ousmane Dembélé**, the Parisians couldn’t break through Monaco’s defense.

Implications for PSG

This defeat marks PSG’s first loss of the season in Ligue 1, leaving them with only two points and raising concerns ahead of their upcoming **Champions League** fixture against **Slovan Bratislava**. A win on Wednesday could halt their streak of four winless matches and restore confidence.

Meanwhile, **AS Monaco** continues their perfect start to the season with three consecutive victories, claiming the top position in the league standings.
