Ibrahim Mbaye: PSG’s Youngest Starter at Just 16 Years Old
On August 16, Ibrahim Mbaye made history by becoming the youngest player to start a match for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) during their 4-1 victory over Le Havre. Born in 2008, the 16-year-old winger is considered a rising star and is set to receive significant playing time with the first team this season. Coach Luis Enrique has even suggested that Mbaye could be in the starting lineup for their upcoming match against Reims.
At just 16 years, 6 months, and 23 days old, Mbaye broke a remarkable record. The talented athlete, who shone in various youth categories for PSG last season, was given his first start by Luis Enrique in the opening match of the league against Le Havre. The young prodigy has also seen action in matches against Montpellier and Brest.

“I’m making history with the club. It’s incredible. You have to work hard to reach this level. It’s a different experience compared to playing with the U17s or U19s. The intensity is immense; it’s truly something special,” Mbaye expressed after his official debut with the senior team. After impressing during the preseason, Mbaye has caught the attention of Luis Enrique, who is likely to integrate him into the team rotation alongside other promising talents like Yoram Zague and Senny Mayulu.

During a press conference on Friday, Luis Enrique did not rule out the possibility of starting the young talent on the pitch against Reims this Saturday evening at 9 PM: “Anything is possible in life; he is a very young player who has been training with us from day one. For young players training with us, it’s a unique learning experience in the real world of football. He will be with us very often because he has the level to help,” the Spanish coach stated.
