Hansi Flick Reflects on Dro Fernandez’s Departure to PSG: A Change of Heart

After initially expressing frustration over Dro Fernandez’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain, Hansi Flick has since softened his stance, though his disappointment remains evident.

While FC Barcelona has been performing well on the pitch, the winter transfer window brought a significant setback for the Catalan club. One of their promising talents, Dro Fernandez, who emerged from the Masia academy and made his professional debut at just 17, has opted to join PSG. Flick’s earlier outburst reflected his annoyance over the decision.

In a press conference on Friday, however, the German coach adopted a different tone: “I’ve changed my mind; I don’t want to say anything more. I hold Dro in high regard and, of course, I’m disappointed, but that’s football. He had a bright future here, but he made another choice, and I have to respect that. It’s part of the game.”

“To play for Barça, you must be fully committed”

Just last week, Flick had taken a firmer stance, stating: “If you want to play for Barça, you must be 100% committed, putting your whole heart into it. This is what I want to convey to all the players currently with us and those who will join in the future. You have to live for these colors. That’s what I expect. I don’t want anyone else.”

According to Spanish media, Flick found Dro Fernandez’s exit particularly difficult to accept and viewed it as one of the biggest disappointments of his coaching career.
