Hakimi Aims for Back-to-Back Champions League Wins and African Ballon d’Or
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is off to a stellar start in this season’s Champions League, boasting three victories in as many matches. This impressive run has solidified their status as a formidable force in the football world.
PSG to face Bayern Munich in crucial match
On Tuesday night, the excitement will peak at Parc des Princes as PSG prepares to take on Bayern Munich. This high-stakes match offers coach Luis Enrique and his squad a chance to reinforce their status as serious contenders for the title.
In a recent interview with PSG TV, Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi shared his aspirations for another Champions League victory. Despite recognizing the challenges, he remains optimistic about the team’s ability to repeat last season’s triumph.
“If we stay united and work together, we can do it again. Winning the trophy last season was a liberating feeling. It was something we desperately wanted to achieve, especially at a club that had never won the Champions League. Being the first to do it is incredibly rewarding, and I’m thrilled to have made history and to continue doing so with this club,” Hakimi declared.
Hakimi sets sights on African Player of the Year award
As a key player in PSG’s lineup, Hakimi has been consistently delivering exceptional performances from the right flank. His prowess on the field places him as a strong contender for the prestigious African Player of the Year award.
The 27-year-old stands alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as one of the frontrunners for this accolade. Speaking to PSG TV, Hakimi expressed his ambition to claim the title in December.
“The African Player of the Year? I don’t constantly think about it, but now that I have a chance to win, it’s become a dream. I’ve worked hard to win both team and individual titles, and now that I’m among the shortlisted players… I believe I deserve it after the season I’ve had, and I’m happy to be one of the favorites. It also motivates me further to keep striving, hoping to make the list again next year,” he shared.
