A missed opportunity with PSG
Ochoa revealed that he nearly signed with PSG just before the club’s acquisition by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011. However, a doping test threw a wrench in the plans. Ochoa and three teammates tested positive for clenbuterol, a banned substance, due to contaminated meat consumption. This incident during the Gold Cup led to their suspension.
"We had an agreement," Ochoa recounted. He was in talks with clubs in MLS, Brazil, Spain, and the English second division, but the doping issue stalled his career. Despite being exonerated, he was unable to join a new club for over two months. The episode marked a significant turning point, impacting his potential move to Paris.
