Ethan Mbappé Leaves PSG for LOSC to Forge His Own Path
This summer, the Mbappé family witnessed a significant transition as not one, but two of its members opted for new beginnings. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Kylian, Ethan Mbappé made the decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and start a new chapter in his football career. Unlike Kylian, who has moved to Real Madrid, Ethan has chosen to remain in France, signing his first professional contract with LOSC Lille. Recently, he shared his thoughts on this pivotal choice.
Ethan Mbappé follows his own path
Just like his brother, Ethan has taken a bold step away from PSG. The young midfielder rebuffed the advances from the Parisian club to embark on his professional journey with LOSC. His debut at Lille has been promising; he scored two goals during a pre-season match against Standard Liège. In his introductory press conference, Olivier Létang, the president of LOSC, praised Ethan’s skills and potential as a midfielder.
Reasons behind Ethan’s departure
“I remember a conversation with a recruitment officer from a Ligue 1 club who told me: ‘Three or four years ago, I didn’t believe in him. Yet, he has managed to withstand the pressure, and now he’s the one succeeding,'” remarked the president of LOSC alongside Ethan Mbappé. “Patience is key. Ethan is unique; he is himself and no one else.”
A young talent under pressure
Ethan, Kylian’s younger brother, acknowledged that the pressure at PSG had become overwhelming, especially following his brother’s recent move to Real Madrid. “I needed to carve out my own path and narrative. Staying at PSG would have meant living in my brother’s shadow. I believe LOSC is the right choice for me. It’s tough at first because the expectations are high, and people will compare me to my brother, which isn’t fair. Carrying that name is challenging, but I’m managing it well. I’m determined to write my own story. The president’s vision and the club’s project resonated with me. I know I need to work hard to earn the playing time I desire,” Ethan shared candidly.
