Despite the loss, Luis Enrique made it clear that he did not want to single out Donnarumma for blame: “Honestly, I won’t individualize this defeat. If we must, then this loss is on me. I take full responsibility. Gigio was at the same level as his teammates, which means far from the minimum standards required for this match. The opponent was better in terms of intensity. We couldn’t break through their pressing. They won all the duels,” he stated following the match.

David Seaman, a former Arsenal legend, weighed in on Donnarumma’s performance, showing understanding: “Donnarumma experienced what we call a difficult evening. This kind of thing happens to goalkeepers. Their errors stand out more than others. But on the second goal, he couldn’t do much; he was obscured by the number of players in front of him in the box, who could deflect the ball.
