Didier Deschamps’ FIFA The Best 2025 Votes: Dembélé Tops Mbappé in Ranking
As the head coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps has cast his vote for the FIFA The Best 2025 award, placing Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé at the top of his list. But which player took the lead?
While the Ballon d’Or is awarded to the best player of the year based on votes from 100 journalists worldwide, the voting panel for The Best award is much broader. Fans, team captains, and especially coaches can vote, influencing the outcome of the various trophies presented at this FIFA-organized celebration.
As France’s coach, Deschamps had the opportunity to participate in this voting process. Notably, he has named Ousmane Dembélé as his top pick for the award this year, placing him ahead of his captain Kylian Mbappé, with Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain rounding out his top three.
Achraf Hakimi’s Vote Surprises
Interestingly, Achraf Hakimi, captain of Morocco’s national team and Dembélé’s teammate at PSG, did not rank Dembélé first on his ballot. Instead, he voted for Kylian Mbappé, a close friend since their time together at PSG. Dembélé was placed second by Hakimi, with Raphinha taking the third spot.
