Di Meco Slams Medina After Marseille’s 5-0 Defeat to PSG in Shocking Classique
The heavy defeat of Olympique de Marseille against PSG on Sunday continues to spark discussions. Former Marseille player Eric Di Meco did not hold back in his criticism of the team, particularly singling out Facundo Medina.
A staunch supporter of OM, Eric Di Meco likely struggled to muster enthusiasm on Monday morning. The 5-0 loss in the Classique has left scars on both players and fans alike following this humiliating setback against their Parisian rivals. Frustrated with the defeat, Di Meco was particularly critical of Medina’s behavior towards the end of the match. “At one point, Medina has a go at young Dro who just came on. The kid had made a couple of dribbles, and I’m convinced Medina went up to him saying, ‘watch yourself,’” he remarked in an interview.
Medina scores an own goal
Struggling throughout the match, frustration ultimately got the best of Medina, leading him to vent his anger on Dro Fernandez, who had come on late in the game. However, prior to this, the Argentine defender had already cost his team dearly by scoring an own goal. “When you lose 5-0, are you really going to provoke a young player on the other side who is just 17 while you’ve been trampled for an hour without reacting?” Di Meco expressed his disdain. This Classique could mark a turning point in Marseille’s season, as the team currently sits in fourth place in Ligue 1.
