Liverpool Emerges as Likely Destination for PSG’s Bradley Barcola Transfer
Bradley Barcola’s Future Takes a Turn: Liverpool Emerges as Leading Contender
In a matter of days, the trajectory of Bradley Barcola’s career has shifted dramatically. According to a prominent English journalist, Liverpool has become the frontrunner in securing the services of the 23-year-old winger, who is poised to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This development comes amidst PSG’s decision not to hold onto a player unwilling to extend his contract.
Liverpool’s keen interest in Barcola
David Lynch, a Liverpool expert, shared insights on the AnfieldIndex podcast, indicating that Liverpool’s long-standing interest in Barcola is now „becoming significantly real.“ The club has intensified its efforts to outmaneuver Arsenal, who were previously leading the chase for the French winger. Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, has admired Barcola’s skills for some months now.
Financial negotiations remain a pivotal factor in this potential transfer. PSG values Barcola between €90 and €100 million, while Transfermarkt places his worth at approximately €70 million. With a contract valid until June 2028, Barcola holds considerable leverage. PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos, is determined not to sell at a reduced price, anticipating a fee in the region of €80 to €100 million, contingent on Barcola’s World Cup performance.
Champions League final sparks a turning point
The catalyst for Barcola’s decision traces back to the Champions League final against Arsenal. Exclusion from the starting lineup served as a definitive sign that he is no longer integral to PSG’s plans. Under Luis Enrique’s management, Barcola found himself behind players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, and Désiré Doué. Contract extension talks have stalled, primarily due to his reduced role.
PSG is already planning for life after Barcola. The anticipated arrival of Maghnes Akliouche, who has reportedly agreed in principle to join the Parisian club, would cushion the financial impact of Barcola’s departure. PSG is open to selling if the offer meets their valuation. Barcola is expected to make a final decision post-World Cup, while Liverpool is reportedly preparing a contract to secure his move to Anfield.
