Marseille deal off the table

Dani Ceballos, the 29-year-old midfielder, had hoped for a more significant role, possibly as a rotational player, at a new club. Initially, he reached an agreement with Marseille to leave Real Madrid. However, after requesting additional time to make a final decision, the French club decided to cancel the contract. Talks then surfaced about a possible return to his former club, Real Betis, but Real Madrid insists Ceballos is staying put.

Alonso affirms Ceballos’ commitment

During a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s match against RCD Mallorca, coach Xabi Alonso confirmed the decision. He stated, “I have spoken with him, and the decision has been made: he stays. My opinion doesn’t change anything. He’s just another member of the team, and I’m pleased with him.”

While Alonso did not elaborate on whether Ceballos has been promised a more prominent role at Real Madrid, he said, “It’s better if he tells you the details. But the decision seems final. He still plays the same role as before, and this doesn’t change my view of him.”

Real Madrid’s transfer window plans

Alonso also hinted that Real Madrid may not pursue any new transfers before the deadline on Monday. “It’s likely we are done, but I don’t want to be caught off guard. We always want to stay alert, but it seems we are finished,” he concluded.
