Carlos Soler Joins West Ham on Loan After PSG Stint Ends

Recruited by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2022 from Valencia, Carlos Soler struggled to make his mark at the prestigious French club. With coach Luis Enrique no longer considering him in his plans, the Spanish midfielder found himself on the brink of departure during the summer transfer window. His exit was finalized on the last day of the market, as he secured a loan move to West Ham United, a development that has delighted Soler.

It became apparent that Carlos Soler’s time at PSG was coming to an end this season. With Luis Enrique not counting on him, Soler was effectively pushed toward the exit. Despite his lackluster performances in Paris, he maintained a strong reputation in the transfer market, attracting interest from several clubs. Ultimately, it was only on the final day of the transfer window that Soler packed his bags for a new adventure in the Premier League, signing on loan with West Ham.

“Playing in the Premier League has always been a dream”

Now set to compete in London, Carlos Soler expressed his excitement about joining West Ham. In an interview with the Hammers’ media team, he shared: “I am really very excited to be here as a West Ham player. It has always been one of my dreams to play in the Premier League, and doing so in London with a club like West Ham is an incredible feeling. I can’t wait to feel the support of the fans; I’ve heard so much about it from people at the club, including my good friend Pablo Fornals. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and giving my all for this club in the best league in the world.”

PSG in a hurry

Carlos Soler’s loan to West Ham has raised questions about PSG’s initial intentions, as it was believed that the club would aim for a permanent transfer. Sports journalist Loïc Tanzi from L’Equipe shed light on the situation, stating: “Paris had requested either a transfer or a loan with an automatic option since the start of the transfer window. It ended up being a loan with a non-automatic option due to time constraints, as Paris urgently needed to offload players.”
