Can Marseille Challenge PSG for the Ligue 1 Title This Season?

Meanwhile, with an impressive summer transfer window, Marseille, under the leadership of Pablo Longoria, is poised to make a significant impact this season. According to 1998 World Cup champion Emmanuel Petit, the team led by Roberto De Zerbi has a realistic chance of competing for the title.

Under the stewardship of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, PSG has left little room for other French clubs to shine. Although they have yet to secure a Champions League trophy, the capital club has consistently dominated domestically. Specifically, PSG has only lost the championship three times since the Qatari takeover: in 2021 to LOSC, in 2017 to AS Monaco, and in 2012 to Montpellier HSC.

Emmanuel Petit believes that this season could see PSG facing their fourth defeat in the league. He is optimistic about Marseille‘s chances to challenge for the Ligue 1 title.

The question remains whether Roberto De Zerbi’s OM will indeed outpace PSG in the league this season.
