Adrien Rabiot Joins OM: A Shocking Move from PSG to Marseille
Former PSG star Adrien Rabiot has made headlines by signing a two-year contract with Olympique de Marseille (OM) after a period without a club following his departure from Juventus. Arriving in Marseille on Monday evening, the 29-year-old midfielder shared his thoughts on joining the club, a move that some Parisian supporters view as a betrayal.
“It’s incredible, it’s huge. I wasn’t expecting this,” Rabiot expressed as he was greeted by several hundred fans on his arrival. On Sunday, OM announced a preliminary agreement with the French international, who boasts 48 caps for his country, committing to the club until June 2026. Speaking to BFM Marseille, Rabiot shared his initial impressions as a new player for Marseille.
“The warmth is truly amazing”
“Everyone is here, they are happy. It warms my heart. I know my family is happy too. So it makes me want to play and to win,” Rabiot stated. “I was told that 400, 500 people came out to welcome me. Showing that kind of warmth is truly amazing. I didn’t expect such a positive atmosphere, such warmth.”
“At first, it seemed a bit unlikely”
Regarding his decision to join OM, despite being a product of the PSG academy, Rabiot said: “It came together somewhat unexpectedly. Initially, it seemed a bit unlikely, but after discussing the project with Medhi (Benatia), I was convinced. I also spoke with the coach, and it really resonated with me on a sporting level. Everything we know about the atmosphere, the passion, the stadium, a city that lives and breathes football…” For Rabiot, the goal with OM is clear: “To win, of course, and to return to the Champions League.”
