Achraf Hakimi Receives African Ballon d’Or While Recovering from Injury in Morocco
This Wednesday, Achraf Hakimi was awarded the African Ballon d’Or in Rabat, Morocco. The Parisian defender appeared with a special device that assisted his mobility, raising questions just a month ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Achraf Hakimi’s Triumph
The recognition goes to Achraf Hakimi, who has had an outstanding season with Paris Saint-Germain, culminating in a Champions League victory. On Wednesday, the former Real Madrid player rightfully received the African Ballon d’Or in his hometown of Rabat, Morocco.
A Cause for Concern
While the award ceremony was a moment of joy, a more concerning image captured attention. Recently injured, Hakimi arrived at the event wearing an orthopedic boot and using a knee walker for support. This device allowed him to navigate the venue despite his injury.

Will He Be Ready for the AFCON?
According to reports from Canal +, Hakimi is expected to wear his boot for “at least ten more days.” It is important to note that the Parisian star suffered a sprained ankle due to a dangerous tackle by Luis Diaz during a Champions League match against Bayern Munich, which ended in a 1-2 defeat.
Hakimi will not play for Paris Saint-Germain in 2025. However, Morocco is hopeful that their star player will recover in time for the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off on December 21 against Comoros.
